The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) caretaker committee inaugurated by the Wike-aligned National Working Committee (NWC) has officially commenced duties in Oyo State following its formal inauguration on Friday.

Members of the caretaker committee were sworn in after taking their oath of office, marking the beginning of their assignment to oversee the party’s affairs in the state.
The development followed the appointment of a 17-member caretaker committee by the PDP’s NWC faction backed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike. The appointment was announced on Wednesday and took effect from December 24, 2025.
In a statement issued by the National Organising Secretary of the Wike-backed NWC faction, Umar Bature, the inauguration was described as part of deliberate efforts to strengthen the party’s structure and reposition it for effective administration in Oyo State.

According to the statement, Prof. Abdulrahman Akinoso was appointed as Chairman of the caretaker committee, while Biola Olanipekun emerged as Secretary. Other members of the committee were also charged with managing and coordinating the affairs of the party in the state.
