The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes has conferred the prestigious Icon of Ibadan Heritage Award on Akinwale Solomon Akinwole, Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission, in recognition of his contributions to the development of Ibadanland.

The honour was presented during the 2026 Ibadan Cultural Festival, where the CCII described Akinwole, popularly known as Wolekanle, as a man of integrity dedicated to the all-round growth and progress of Ibadan.

Reacting to the recognition, Akinwole called on individuals to prioritise humanity in their daily lives, stressing the importance of making positive impacts on others.

He noted that touching lives meaningfully should remain a core aspiration for both men and women, adding that beyond passion for one’s work, compassion must also guide actions.

According to him, a truly meaningful life is one devoted to the service of humanity. He further stated that the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission, under his leadership, is guided by the fear of God and a strong commitment to supporting communities and improving lives.
