The African Democratic Congress has suspended the collation of results from its ongoing presidential primary election ahead of the 2027 general election. Chairman of the ADC Presidential Primary Election Committee, Ikechi Emenike, announced the postponement late Tuesday, explaining that the decision was taken to allow Muslim members of the party observe and celebrate the Eid-el-Kabir festival. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has appealed the judgment of a Federal High Court which nullified its revised timetable and schedule of activities for the 2027 general elections. The commission also filed a motion seeking a stay of execution pending the determination of the appeal before the Court of Appeal. INEC, through its counsel, Alex Izinyon (SAN), filed the notice of appeal on May 25, challenging the judgment delivered by Justice Mohammed Umar on nine grounds. The Oyo State Rule of Law Enforcement Authority (OYRLEA) has intensified enforcement activities against the illegal sale and open grazing of livestock in unauthorised areas across the state. This follows the continuous public sensitisation jingles jointly circulated by OYRLEA and the Association of Livestock Dealers and Breeders, warning residents and livestock traders against selling sheep, rams, and goats at unapproved locations.
