Twenty prospective members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), who were abducted while travelling from Ibadan, Oyo State, to their orientation camp in the South-East, have regained their freedom.
The development was confirmed in a statement signed by the Media Aide to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Adeola Oloko.

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, received the confirmation on Wednesday from the Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, during a telephone conversation at about 5 p.m.
The release of the prospective corps members comes after days of uncertainty and concern over their safety following their abduction while on their way to the NYSC orientation camp in the South-East.
The incident had raised concerns among their families and members of the public, particularly as the affected prospective corps members were travelling from Ibadan to commence their national service programme.
The families of the victims had earlier appealed to relevant authorities to intensify efforts towards securing their safe release.

The confirmation of their freedom is expected to bring considerable relief to the families and loved ones of the 20 prospective corps members, who had remained anxious over their safety since their abduction.
No further details on the circumstances surrounding their release were contained in the statement signed by Oloko.
