Brushing sentiments aside, I hereby condemn in totality the actions of the Naval Officer, A.M. Yerima, who obstructed the FCT Minister from gaining access to that parcel of land, under the guise of ‘obeying superior orders.’ The duty of a junior officer to obey the orders of his superiors, even though strongly upheld in military and paramilitary circles, has its own limitations recognised by no other authority but the Supreme Court of Nigeria. I shall establish this anon In the recent case of Onunze vs. State (2023) 8 NWLR (Pt. 1885) 61 at 108 SC, the Supreme Court held emphatically,…
Former Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, is alive, healthy, and residing in Texas, United States contrary to widespread rumours circulating on social media and some online platforms claiming he had died in London. The clarification was issued on Friday by Don Adinuba, former Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment in Anambra State, who described the reports as entirely baseless. “The Nigerian media have been abuzz in the last couple of hours over a rumour that the immediate past Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, has passed on in London. This rumour has no basis,” Adinuba said in a statement.…
“We once kept the peace of nations. Today, we struggle to keep our own. The question is not what broke us, but when we forgot how to think like ourselves.” There was a time Nigeria didn’t just talk about peace, we engineered it. From the jungles of Monrovia to the corridors of Pretoria, we were the muscle and the moral compass of Africa. The world once looked to Nigeria not as a warning, but as a weapon, disciplined, decisive, indispensable. That Nigeria, confident, capable, commanding, still exists. She has just forgotten her reflection. In the 1990s, when the world turned away from…

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has received yet another judicial boost as the Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan on Monday, November 10, 2025, reaffirmed its earlier order permitting the party to proceed with its National Convention slated for Saturday, November 15, and Sunday, November 16, 2025. Presided over by Justice A. L. The court also upheld its order directing the PDP National Working Committee…
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), in its 2022 National Multi-dimensional Poverty Index report, put the number of multi-dimensionally poor people in the country at 133 million, representing 63 percent of the population. The agency also stated that of this number, 86 million people (65 percent) live in the North, while nearly 47 million (35 percent) live in the South. Although the internationally recognized metric for categorizing anyone as being poor is living below $2.15 per day, the NBS, in its report, adopted the multi-dimensional approach of identifying non-monetary deprivations that breed poverty. Thus, NBS identified four major determinants of…
