The West African Examinations Council has released the results of the 2025 Second Series of the Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for private candidates, recording a decline of 11.47 percentage points in performance compared to 2024. The development was announced in a statement issued Monday night by WAEC’s Head of Public Affairs, Moyosola Adesina. According to the council, 42.17 per cent of candidates secured credit passes in at least five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics. The Federal Government has instituted criminal proceedings against former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, over allegations that he unlawfully intercepted the private telephone communications of the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu. The cybercrime charges were filed on Monday at the Federal High Court, Abuja, in a case marked FHC/ABJ/CR/99/2026. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said it is consulting stakeholders and may seek legislative intervention over growing concerns that the scheduled dates for the 2027 general elections coincide with the holy month of Ramadan.
