Dele Momodu Resigns from PDP, Declares Support for ADC

Renowned media entrepreneur and politician, Chief Dele Momodu, has resigned his membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing what he described as the party’s hijack by anti-democratic forces.

In a resignation letter dated July 17, 2025, and addressed to the Chairman of PDP Ward 4 in Ihievbe, Owan East Local Government Area of Edo State, Momodu said his decision to leave the party was driven by deep concerns over its current direction.

“My reason is simple and straightforward. Our party has been unarguably hijacked by antidemocratic forces, from within and outside, in broad daylight,” he wrote.

Declaring his next political move, the former PDP presidential aspirant announced his alignment with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), a party he referred to as “the new coalition party.”

“It is therefore honorable to abandon the carcass of the party to them while majority of us earnestly sign up with the new coalition party known as the African Democratic Congress (ADC),” he stated.

Momodu, who has been an influential voice within the PDP and a major player in Nigeria’s political and media landscape, expressed appreciation to his ward leadership, saying, “I will forever treasure the kind support you gave me at all times.”

His resignation adds to the growing list of prominent defections from the PDP in recent times, amid internal wrangling and restructuring challenges within the party.
