Honourable Segun Ogunwuyi, Chief of Staff to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, has resigned his appointment, effective Monday, October 12, 2026, in the latest development in the growing wave of departures from the governor’s administration.
Ogunwuyi announced his decision in a resignation letter dated October 12, 2026, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to serve the government and people of Oyo State.

In the letter addressed to Governor Makinde, the former Chief of Staff stated that his resignation took effect from the date of the letter.
“I respectfully write to resign my appointment as Chief of Staff to the Governor of Oyo State, with effect from today, 12th October, 2026,” he wrote.
Reflecting on his time in the administration, Ogunwuyi described his service to the state as a great honour and said it had been deeply fulfilling to work with the team responsible for the administration’s achievements.
“Serving the Government and the good people of Oyo State has been a great honour. It has been deeply fulfilling to be part of the exceptional team that has worked relentlessly to deliver the remarkable achievements of this administration,” the letter read.
He further expressed pride in the collective accomplishments of the government, particularly its efforts towards advancing the growth, development and prosperity of Oyo State.
“I remain immensely proud of what we have collectively accomplished in advancing the growth, development and prosperity of our dear State,” he stated.
Ogunwuyi also expressed confidence in the continued progress of the state, noting that his decision to leave office was accompanied by profound gratitude for the opportunity to serve.
“As I take this decision, I do so with profound gratitude for the opportunity to serve, with confidence in the continued progress of Oyo State,” he added.

Concluding the letter, the former Chief of Staff assured Governor Makinde of his highest esteem and reaffirmed his loyalty to Oyo State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“Please accept, Your Excellency, the assurances of my highest esteem and unwavering loyalty to Oyo State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he wrote.
Ogunwuyi, a former member of the Oyo State House of Assembly and the House of Representatives, is among several aides and political appointees of Governor Makinde who have reportedly left the administration in the last two months.
His resignation comes amid the continuing departures from the Makinde-led government, adding to the recent changes within the governor’s team.
However, Ogunwuyi did not disclose any specific reason for his decision to resign in the letter.
His departure marks another significant development within the Oyo State Government as the administration experiences a series of exits among its political appointees and aides.
