The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed Friday, October 9, 2026, for the commencement of the distribution of newly printed Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) across its 33 local government offices in Oyo State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The exercise, which will enable eligible voters to collect their newly printed cards, will take place between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily, excluding weekends and public holidays.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Oyo State, Professor Rahman Tella, disclosed this in a statement, explaining that the exercise is specifically designed for newly registered voters, those who recently transferred their polling units and voters whose PVCs were lost or damaged during the last Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
According to Tella, the distribution will be conducted simultaneously across the commission’s 33 local government offices in the state to facilitate access to the cards by eligible voters.
He emphasised that PVC collection would be strictly personal, ruling out collection by proxy, as voters would be required to collect their cards themselves.
The REC also assured residents that the commission had made adequate arrangements to ensure that the exercise was conducted in a transparent, orderly and peaceful manner, in collaboration with security agencies across the state.

He called on members of the public and other relevant stakeholders in the electoral process to cooperate with the commission by ensuring the prompt collection of the newly printed PVCs.
Tella further disclosed that the commission still had a considerable number of uncollected PVCs from the last general election in its custody in Oyo State.
He urged eligible voters who had yet to collect their previously issued cards to take advantage of the opportunity to do so.
The distribution exercise is part of INEC’s preparations for the 2027 general elections, providing eligible voters with an opportunity to obtain their PVCs ahead of the polls.
