The Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria (MMPN), Oyo State Chapter, has inaugurated a new Executive Council, with its members charged to uphold Islamic principles, demonstrate transparency and lead with the fear of Allah throughout their two-year tenure.
The new Executive Council, led by Brother Aliu Odukoya of the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA), takes over from the Alhaji Abdur Rofih Adebayo-led administration of the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS), whose tenure expired after recording notable achievements.

The inauguration and formal transfer of leadership took place at the BCOS Central Mosque, bringing together Muslim media professionals from various media organisations across Oyo State, religious leaders and other stakeholders of the association.
Performing the swearing-in ceremony, a former Chairman of the association, Alhaji Wasiu Aliyu, commended the outgoing executive members for sustaining the legacies of the founding fathers and contributing to the growth and development of the association.
Aliyu particularly acknowledged the achievements of the immediate past administration, highlighting the foundation-laying ceremony of the association’s ongoing Islamic Centre project at the Amunloko area of Oyo State as one of its significant accomplishments.
He urged the newly inaugurated executives, under the leadership of Brother Odukoya, to regard their respective positions as an opportunity to serve humanity, Islam and the association, rather than as privileges.
The former chairman further charged them to demonstrate commitment, dedication and the necessary energy in discharging their responsibilities, stressing the need to work towards the collective interest of MMPN and the Muslim community.
In his goodwill message, the Chief Imam of Ile Akade Central Mosque, Engr. Billaminu Raji, emphasised the importance of fairness, trustworthiness and accountability in leadership, reminding the newly inaugurated executives that every leader would ultimately give an account of their stewardship before Allah.

He advised the new leadership to embrace teamwork, promote unity and place the collective interest of the association above personal considerations, noting that effective leadership requires sincerity, mutual understanding and a strong commitment to shared objectives.
The Chief Imam also urged the executives to uphold Islamic and professional values while contributing meaningfully to the development of the association and society at large.
He further called on the new administration to strengthen relationships among Muslim media practitioners across various media organisations in Oyo State and utilise their professional platforms to promote peace, morality, unity and responsible journalism.
Also speaking at the event, a former Permanent Secretary in the Oyo State Ministry of Information, Alhaji Hamzat Ladiran, underscored the importance of transparency, consultation, fairness and a strong sense of responsibility in achieving effective leadership.
Ladiran urged the new executive members to remain accessible to members of the association and ensure that their administration was guided by fairness and devoid of discrimination.
He also encouraged the new leadership to consolidate on the achievements of previous administrations while introducing fresh initiatives that would advance the welfare, professional development and unity of Muslim media practitioners in the state.
In his acceptance speech, the newly inaugurated Chairman of MMPN, Oyo State Chapter, Brother Aliu Odukoya, expressed profound appreciation to members of the association for the confidence reposed in him and other members of the Executive Council.
Odukoya pledged that his administration would adopt a collective approach to leadership, with particular attention to promoting the welfare, unity and professional development of Muslim media practitioners across the state.
He assured members that the new administration would be guided by the principles of transparency, accountability, fairness and, above all, the fear of Allah in the discharge of its responsibilities.
The new chairman also solicited the continued support, cooperation and commitment of all members, emphasising that the success of his administration would depend largely on their collective efforts, unity and willingness to work together towards the progress of the association.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to working with members to strengthen MMPN and advance its objectives during the next two years.
The inauguration ceremony concluded with prayers for the success of the new Executive Council, the continued growth and progress of the MMPN Oyo State Chapter, as well as the wellbeing of its members and society at large.
