One of the things I respect Seyi Makinde for is the fact that, unlike so many Governors who have reduced themselves to something lower and less befitting of the status of a councillor, Seyi Makinde has a mind of his own.
If there was one thing that could have broken him politically, it would have been the Oyo schoolchildren abduction issue, but he handled it with the total confidence expected of a Governor.
The Oyo issue was a test designed to break him, but it didn’t.Seyi is the only Governor in the whole of the South West region doing things differently as an opposition Governor, exactly the way Tinubu held Lagos.
He has a very calm demeanour, yet with so much composure and qualities that do not suggest a man who is scared of what may become of him when he loses power.This is probably one of the qualities Wike must have enjoyed in him, and perhaps why he always drew him close.
