The Oyo State governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Olooye Adegboyega Taofeek Adegoke (FCA), has called for reconciliation and unity among members of the party, urging all aspirants who contested the governorship primary with him to join forces ahead of the February 2027 election.
Adegoke made the appeal on Friday while addressing ADC leaders and members in Saki during his thank-you visit to the Saki West, Saki East and Atisbo Federal Constituency.
The governorship candidate said he had never believed that he could achieve victory alone, stressing that all stakeholders must work together to secure the party’s success at the polls.

He specifically disclosed that after emerging as the party’s governorship candidate, he reached out to some of the other aspirants, particularly Chief Bisi Ilaka, seeking their cooperation in the collective task of winning the governorship election.
According to Adegoke, reconciliation remains essential for the party to move forward, urging those who may still be aggrieved to put aside their differences and work together.
“I want reconciliation so that we can move forward. Those who are angry should sheath their swords. They should let us work together, hand in hand like the symbol of our party.
“Nobody can do it alone, we must work together to achieve victory. Let us talk to one another and when we win, we will all enjoy the dividends of hard work,” he said.
Adegoke explained that his call for reconciliation was not merely a campaign strategy, noting that he began reaching out to party leaders immediately after securing the governorship ticket because he believed cooperation was necessary to bring development to Oyo State.
He extended the invitation beyond the ADC, calling on members of other political parties to join him in the bid to win the February 2027 governorship election.
“I am saying this because when I won the governorship ticket, I didn’t just sit down as a candidate, I approached our leaders for reconciliation. I talked to them that we should work together, we should cooperate so that development will come to Oyo State.
“I am talking to people in our party and even in the other political parties to join hands with me as we go for the governorship elections in February next year,” Adegoke said.
The ADC candidate also unveiled part of his proposed development agenda, promising to repair at least 10 township and inner roads in each of the 33 local government areas of Oyo State within his first 100 days in office if elected.
At the gathering, the ADC candidate for the House of Representatives, Architect Bashiru Lawal, and the party’s Oyo North Senatorial Candidate, Dr Lanre Agoro, also appealed for peace and unity within the party.
The duo urged party members and leaders to avoid hostility and instead embrace reconciliation, stressing that unity would be critical to the party’s chances of securing victory in the forthcoming elections.
Lawal and Agoro particularly advised members to desist from attacking one another through the media, especially on social media platforms, saying such actions could undermine the party’s collective effort.
Also speaking, the Oyo State ADC Chairman, Afees Jimoh, expressed appreciation to the people of Saki for their continued support for the party.
Jimoh urged ADC members and leaders in Saki to rally behind the party ahead of the 2027 general elections. He also called on supporters to commence house-to-house campaigns and intensify mobilisation for all ADC candidates participating in the forthcoming elections.
The Saki engagement formed part of Adegoke’s statewide outreach as the party prepares for the 2027 electoral contest.
