ICDF Congratulates Olatunji on Reps Ticket, Commends Proposed Bridge Project for Soka Communities

The Irepodun Community Development Forum (ICDF) has congratulated the Executive Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Akeem Olatunji, on securing a House of Representatives ticket, while also commending his commitment to the welfare of residents through the proposed construction of a bridge linking key communities in the area.

The commendation was made during a courtesy visit to the chairman by the socio-political non-governmental organisation, led by its Chairman, Ayodele Anifowoshe.

Anifowoshe described Olatunji’s leadership as exceptional, citing his commitment to welfare, infrastructural development and responsiveness to the needs and aspirations of the people.

He particularly praised the proposed bridge project linking Ireti Ola Orphanage, Aba Orioke, with the British American Tobacco area along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, describing it as a timely intervention that would benefit numerous surrounding communities.

According to him, the bridge would provide residents with an alternative route in and out of the Soka axis, reducing the persistent traffic congestion associated with the Soka Junction and helping to curb the frequent accidents recorded in the area.

“Traffic congestion has been the norm in and out of Soka for a long time. The proposed bridge project will enable residents of surrounding communities to move more freely and will help reduce accidents as well as ease traffic around the junction,” he said.

He added that many commuters experience delays when travelling to work, school and other destinations due to the heavy traffic around the busy Soka corridor.

Anifowoshe noted that the project has become even more important given the growing population of the area, which he said comprises more than 60 communities and continues to attract new residents.

While applauding the initiative, he urged the council chairman to expedite action on the project to ensure its timely commencement and completion.

The ICDF chairman also congratulated Olatunji on securing the House of Representatives ticket, attributing the achievement to his dedication to public service, impactful initiatives and leadership qualities.

Responding, Olatunji expressed appreciation to the forum for its consistency, activism and commitment to community development.

He stated that with God’s help, the proposed bridge project had moved from an idea to reality and assured residents that all necessary arrangements were being put in place to ensure the commencement of construction.

The council boss further pledged that, by the grace of God, the project would be completed before the end of the year.

Olatunji reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare and convenience of residents, stressing that the needs of the people remain a top priority of his government.

He also sought the support of residents for his House of Representatives aspiration ahead of the next election.

The chairman pledged to continue promoting unity, security and peaceful coexistence across the communities within the local government area.

The statement was signed by the Media Officer of the Irepodun Community Development Forum (ICDF) and dated May 29, 2026.
