The Executive Chairman of Saki West Local Government, Gbenga Olaleye Akinola, has congratulated Muslim faithful and residents of the council area on the celebration of the 2026 Eid-el-Adha festival, urging them to embrace peace, unity, sacrifice, and communal development.
In a Sallah message released from the local government secretariat on Tuesday evening, May 26, 2026, Hon. Akinola extended warm greetings to royal fathers, traditional chiefs, Islamic scholars, and the entire people of Saki West.
The council chairman described Eid-el-Adha as a sacred season that calls for sober reflection, obedience to constituted authority, and renewed commitment to collective progress and peaceful coexistence.
Speaking on the significance of the festival, Hon. Akinola said the essence of Eid-el-Adha is rooted in the total submission, faith, and devotion demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim, urging residents to emulate such virtues in their daily lives.
According to him, the celebration should go beyond merriment and sharing of meat, stressing that it serves as a reminder of faith, patience, sacrifice, and dedication to the common good.
“As we slaughter our sacrificial animals in line with Islamic tradition, let us also sacrifice any animosity, bitterness, or division capable of hindering the progress of our great local government,” he stated.
The chairman also used the occasion to call for increased vigilance and security consciousness among residents during the festive period.
He emphasized that security remains a collective responsibility and commended local vigilante groups, hunters, the Amotekun Corps, and other federal security agencies for their efforts in protecting communities and securing the borders of Saki West Local Government.
Hon. Akinola urged residents to cooperate with security operatives and promptly report suspicious movements or unfamiliar individuals within their communities to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free celebration.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to grassroots development, the chairman assured residents that the council would continue implementing people-oriented projects, improving rural roads, and upgrading local health centres to enhance the living standards of farmers, traders, and other residents.
He appreciated the people of Saki West for their continued support, patience, and resilience, promising that democratic dividends would continue to be distributed fairly across all political wards in the local government.
Hon. Akinola further prayed for peace, prosperity, and economic growth in Saki West and beyond.
“On behalf of my family, the executive cabinet, and the legislative arm of Saki West Local Government, I wish all residents a joyful, safe, and spiritually fulfilling Eid-el-Adha celebration. May Allah accept our sacrifices as acts of worship and bless our land with lasting peace and abundance,” the statement added.
