Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday paid a condolence visit to the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, following the recent security incident in the state which involved the kidnapping and tragic death of teachers and school children.
The delegation was led by members of the Interim National Working Committee of the party, who described the incident as painful and unfortunate.
Also on the visit was the Chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees (BOT), Adolphus Wabara, who joined the trip to Ibadan to commiserate with Governor Makinde and the people of Oyo State during the difficult period.
During discussions with the governor, the delegation acknowledged and commended Makinde for efforts aimed at strengthening the security architecture of the state, as well as the proactive measures being implemented to protect lives and property.
The party leaders also offered prayers for the affected families and expressed hope that such a tragedy would never occur again.
Addressing journalists after the meeting, the delegation called on the APC-led Federal Government to carry out a comprehensive review of the nation’s security framework.
According to them, the persistent security challenges confronting the country require urgent attention, decisive leadership, and a total overhaul of outdated security structures to guarantee a more responsive and effective system for Nigerians.
The delegation stressed the need for national unity in addressing insecurity, noting that the safety of citizens, particularly children, must remain a top priority for the country.
