2027 Power Play: ADC Kicks as INEC Delists National Working Committee Members from Official Website

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has formally registered its protest against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) following the removal of its National Working Committee (NWC) members’ names from the commission’s official website.

The development, which has sparked concerns within the political circle, comes at a time when the ADC is witnessing a massive surge in membership and strategic realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.

    ADC Rejects INEC’s Move

In a swift reaction to the delisting, the party leadership rejected INEC’s action, describing it as an irregular move that lacks clear justification. The party expressed surprise that the names of its duly elected national officers were pulled down without formal communication or a valid legal basis.

The ADC leadership maintained that its current NWC remains the legitimate administrative body of the party and urged the electoral umpire to rectify the situation immediately to avoid unnecessary legal or political friction.

Call for Calm Amidst Growing Influence

Despite the tension generated by the move, the party has urged its members and supporters nationwide—including the influx of new high-profile defectors—to remain calm. The party leadership assured its followers that the matter is being handled through the appropriate administrative and legal channels.

“We urge all our members to remain focused on our mission to provide a credible alternative for Nigerians,” a party spokesperson stated. “This administrative oversight on the part of INEC will not deter the momentum we have built as the nation’s fastest-growing political platform.”

    The 2027 Context

Political analysts suggest that the scrutiny on the ADC’s leadership structure is intensified by the party’s recent transformation into a “Third Force.” With the recent high-profile entry of figures like Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and several ranking members of the National Assembly, the ADC has moved into the spotlight as a primary challenger to the status quo.

While INEC has yet to provide an official reason for the update on its portal, the ADC maintains that its internal processes and leadership elections have always been conducted in full compliance with the Electoral Act and the party’s constitution.
