The people of Saki East Local Government Area and the entire traditional institution in Oyo State have been thrown into mourning following the death of the Alamodu of Ago-Amodu, Oba Johnson Olatunde Olaewe I, who passed away at midnight today.

The late monarch, widely regarded as a symbol of unity in his domain, ascended the throne on February 21, 2020, and was officially coronated on September 19, 2020.
The formal announcement of his transition was made by the Executive Chairman of Saki East Local Government, Hon. Prince Adedokun Emmanuel Olalekan.
In his statement, the chairman paid a glowing tribute to the late royal father, describing him as a quintessential man of the people whose reign was marked by popularity, peace, and a commitment to development.
According to him, Oba Olaewe I was deeply loved by his subjects and remained steadfast in his pursuit of holistic growth and progress for Ago-Amodu, noting that his wisdom and passion for community development were unparalleled.

He added that the monarch’s leadership left a lasting impact, stressing that he would be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
The chairman extended heartfelt condolences to the immediate family of the late monarch, the people of Ago-Amodu, and the state government, particularly the Governor, Seyi Makinde, describing the late Oba as a key partner in the state’s traditional governance structure.

He also sympathised with the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs over the loss of one of its highly respected members.
Following the official announcement, traditional rites are expected to commence in Ago-Amodu in accordance with the customs and traditions of the land.
The reign of the late Alamodu will be remembered for fostering peace, unity and communal stability within his domain.
Funeral arrangements and further details regarding the transition are expected to be announced by the palace and the local government council in due course.
