The annual picnic of the Great Club of Oke Ogun took on a forward-looking tone as stakeholders called for an expansion of the club’s humanitarian footprint, even as members celebrated unity, faith, and shared values at the well-attended gathering.
Delivering the keynote address, Dr Barr. Y. Y. Muslim commended the club’s sustained contributions to societal development across the Oke Ogun region, urging members to scale up their interventions to reach more vulnerable communities. Echoing this position, the Chairman of the Crescent Club of Saki, Alhaji Khalid Ajibade, lauded the club’s dedication to humanity and offered strategic guidance aimed at strengthening its legacy and broadening its impact.

The event, which drew members, their families, and distinguished guests, also featured reflections on the club’s recent humanitarian outreach to Special Basic School, Abata Ogun, and the Oyo State Specialist Hospital, Saki, where cash and food items were distributed to support vulnerable groups and healthcare services.
Amid these discussions, the Chairman of the club, Alhaji Dauda Aderorogba, led members in expressing gratitude to God for the preservation of their lives and the continued progress of the club. He attributed the group’s stability and achievements to divine grace, while also acknowledging the vital role of members’ families. According to him, the support of wives and children, as well as the harmony within their homes, has been instrumental to the club’s cohesion and growth.

Aderorogba further appreciated the unwavering support of the club’s Patron, Chief Sunday Blessing Folydak, and Matron, Alhaja Fasilat Okanlawon, Managing Director of Dorlasfat Nigeria Limited, describing their contributions as pivotal to the club’s success.
A key feature of the picnic was the active participation of members’ spouses, who were encouraged to deliberate on ways to strengthen the club’s objectives. Their recommendations were later presented, reinforcing their role as critical partners in the club’s development.

The gathering also reflected the club’s strong interfaith identity, with prayers offered for members’ progress and well-being. Islamic prayers were led by Alhaji Isa Fasasi Abimojegbe, while Christian prayers were conducted by Pastor N. A. Adeola, symbolising unity across religious lines.
In her goodwill message, Matron Alhaja Fasilat Okanlawon praised the wives for their resilience and cooperation, urging them to continue fostering unity within their homes. She emphasised that strong families remain essential to organisational success and, in recognition of their contributions, presented a cash donation to the wives.
Closing the event, the Vice Chairman of Saki West Local Government and Political Head of Wewe LCDA who is also a member of the Club, Hon. Tiamiyu Rahman, noted that the club’s activities have so far been self-funded, driven largely by the commitment of its patron and matron. He expressed optimism that the club would achieve even greater milestones with continued divine support.

Dignitaries present included Vice Chairman Mr. Àjàgbé Sunday; Secretary Mr Tijani Idris O.; Assistant General Secretary Mr Badru Taofiki; Treasurer Alh. Nasiru Balogun; Financial Secretary Esv. Olatudun Josuah; Auditor Mr Ajibade Mudasiru; Welfare Officer Mr Y. A. Shittu; Chief Whip Mr Dauda Abdullahi; and Public Relations Officer Mr Hassan Olusola.
Others were former Chairman of the Club, Esv Ganiu Tunji Rasaq, Mr Saidu Balogun, Mr Ojo Joel, Esv Ibrahim Busari, Mr Gbadamosi Ganiyu, Comr. Ajuwon Ibrahim, alongside other notable members and guests.

While the picnic served as a moment of relaxation and bonding, it ultimately reinforced the Great Club of Oke Ogun’s enduring commitment to humanitarian service, spiritual growth, and strong family values.
