The The Great Club of Oke Ogun has reaffirmed its commitment to humanitarian service with a renewed outreach to the Special School, Abata, and the State Hospital in Saki, extending support to vulnerable groups through donations of food items and cash gifts.
The initiative, which has become a yearly tradition of the club, was marked by direct interaction between members and beneficiaries, including students, patients and staff of the two institutions. The visit provided not only material assistance but also emotional encouragement, as recipients expressed appreciation for the club’s consistent support.
Speaking during the exercise, the Chairman of the club, Alhaji Dauda Aderogba, explained that the outreach is driven by a sense of gratitude and responsibility to society. He noted that members, largely civil servants, contribute personally from their monthly earnings to sustain the initiative.
According to him, the effort reflects the group’s desire to give back to the community and acknowledge divine blessings, stressing that collective contributions, no matter how small, can have a meaningful impact on the lives of others.
He further highlighted that the club’s guiding principles revolve around unity, selflessness and compassion, adding that their continued efforts demonstrate that significant change can be achieved without vast financial resources.
The chairman also acknowledged the support of the club’s patrons and matron, including Prince Sunday Folorunso Oyewole, Alh Engr Yussuf Soliu Alagbo and Alhaja Fasilat Okanlawon Arolu, whose contributions helped make the outreach successful.
Management teams of both the Special School, Abata, and the State Hospital, Saki, commended the club for its sustained humanitarian efforts, describing the donations as timely and impactful given the growing needs of their facilities.
They noted that both institutions continue to face challenges ranging from shortages of educational materials and medical supplies to infrastructural deficits. While expressing gratitude, they called on other individuals and organisations to emulate the club’s example by supporting public institutions.
The outreach once again highlighted the importance of grassroots-driven philanthropy, particularly in addressing gaps within public services. It also underscored how collective goodwill and consistent efforts can provide relief and restore hope among underserved members of the community.
