In a move set to provide significant relief to Nigerian businesses and households, the Dangote Petroleum Refinery has officially announced a reduction in the prices of both Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) and Automotive Gas Oil (diesel).
According to the latest pricing template released by the refinery on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, the cost of petrol at the gantry has been slashed by ₦100. This adjustment brings the price down to ₦1,075 per litre, compared to the previous rate of ₦1,175 per litre.
The refinery also implemented an even more substantial price cut for diesel. The cost of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) has been lowered to ₦1,430 per litre at the gantry, representing a significant reduction of ₦190 from the earlier price of ₦1,620 per litre.
However, the refinery management clarified a key detail regarding these new rates: the quoted prices at the gantry do not include the statutory fees and levies mandated by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).
Economic analysts suggest that this downward price review by the 650,000 barrels-per-day facility could trigger a positive ripple effect across the transport and manufacturing sectors, potentially easing the inflationary pressures currently facing the Nigerian economy.
The new pricing structure takes effect immediately at the refinery’s loading gantry in Ibeju-Lekki.
