The Crescent Club of Saki organised its Annual Ramadan Lecture and Benevolence Programme for the aged and less privileged at the Saki West Local Government Secretariat Mosque, Saki, with a strong call for sustained charity, empowerment and spiritual accountability.

Delivering the lecture, Barrister Nasirudeen Muslim spoke on the theme, “Ramadan: Mercy for Some, Regret for Others.” He charged Muslims to prioritise zakat and not limit their giving to occasional sadaqah, stressing that believers should not rely solely on yearly charitable activities.

According to him, Muslims should cultivate the habit of giving regularly so they would not face regret at the point of death or in the grave. He advised the faithful to invest in projects and initiatives that would benefit all mankind, including support for the handicapped and orphanage homes.

He noted that if sadaqah is given as at when due, there would be a significant reduction in the number of less privileged persons within the Muslim community. “If you do good, it is a blessing; otherwise, you will regret,” he cautioned.

The guest lecturer also urged Muslims to give alms discreetly without seeking public recognition and emphasised the importance of Sadaqat Jariyah (continuous charity), describing it as a lasting reward. He encouraged members to imbibe the spirit of being givers rather than perpetual receivers and to embrace entrepreneurship and empowerment initiatives, which he said would benefit them both in this world and in the hereafter.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman of the club, Alhaji Khalid Adebayo Ajibade, thanked Almighty Allah for granting members the opportunity to witness this year’s event. He remembered late members who were expected to be present, including Alhaji Saheed Ajijola and Alhaji Jimoh Fatai Taiwo (JFT), among others, praying that Almighty Allah forgives their shortcomings and grants them Al-Jannatul Firdaus.

Alhaji Ajibade also appreciated the club’s patrons, Alhaji Mudasir Oredegbe and Alhaji Dr Abdulhakeem Audu, for their unwavering support, praying that Almighty Allah blesses them abundantly.

As part of the benevolence programme, food items including rice, beans, semovita and vegetable oil were distributed to beneficiaries, alongside cash gifts to cushion their needs during the holy month.

The beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the Crescent Club of Saki for the generous gesture and offered prayers for the continued success and progress of the organisation.

The beneficiaries include the Muslim students of the Baptist Medical College of Nursing, Saki.

Dignitaries present at the occasion included Mallam Ibrahim Tijani Omolotun; Alhaji Imran Akanbi, Vice Chairman; Alhaji Oke Rasheed, Secretary; Alhaji Balogun Nasiru, Treasurer; Hon. Abdulhakeem Shuarau, Assistant Secretary; Alhaji AbdulRazaq Abidiesin, Financial Secretary; Alhaji Ismail Salami, Auditor; Mallam Shittu Yekeen, Welfare Officer; Alhaji Wasiu Ahmed ALOBALOWO; Alhaji Dauda Olugbade Aderogba, PRO; and other dignitaries.
