The Ansar-ud-Deen Society of Nigeria has officially thrown its weight behind the appointment of Assistant Inspector-General of Police Tunji Disu as the Acting Inspector-General of Police, expressing absolute confidence in his ability to lead with honor. The religious organization described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s choice as a significant step toward reinforcing the nation’s internal security through the promotion of professional excellence and deep-seated discipline.

In a statement released by the National Secretariat and signed by National Secretary Alhaji Rahman Olabode Salaudeen, the Society emphasized that Disu’s elevation is a direct recognition of his years of meritorious service to the Nigerian state. Beyond his professional accolades, the organization highlighted Disu’s personal character, noting his long-standing and active membership in the Society’s Abuja Branch. The statement pointed out that despite his demanding career, Disu remains a dedicated participant in Jumu’ah prayers and various communal activities, blending his duty to the nation with a firm commitment to his faith.

The President of the Society, Mosediq Adeniji Kazeem, SAN, characterized the appointment as both historic and timely, noting that Disu’s reputation for fairness and wisdom is exactly what the Nigeria Police Force requires during this critical period. The organization joined other stakeholders in commending President Tinubu for prioritizing continuity and renewed momentum in the fight against crime, viewing the appointment as a strategic move to consolidate ongoing policing reforms.

As the new Acting IGP assumes his role, Ansar-ud-Deen offered prayers for divine guidance and strength, voicing their certainty that he will discharge his enormous responsibilities with the highest level of integrity. The Society’s endorsement adds to a growing wave of national support for Disu, as many look toward his leadership to bring a fresh perspective to the country’s security challenges.
