Comrade Babalola Rufus Adeyemi, the Deputy National President General of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), has extended warm greetings to Muslim and Christian faithful across Oyo State and Nigeria as they commence the sacred seasons of Ramadan and Lent.

In his special message, Comrade Rufus described the period as a unique and spiritually significant moment marked by fasting, prayer, reflection, and renewed devotion to God.

“To our Muslim faithful, I bring you greetings of peace and unity — As-Salamu Alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh. As you begin the blessed month of Ramadan, may Almighty Allah grant you strength, ease, and abundant rewards for your fasting, prayers, and acts of charity,” he stated.

He also addressed Christians observing Lent, saying, “I extend Calvary greetings to our Christian brethren in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ as you enter this sacred season of sacrifice and reflection. May this period draw you closer to God and strengthen your faith.”

Comrade Rufus noted that the simultaneous observance of Ramadan and Lent highlights shared values between Islam and Christianity, including love, sacrifice, discipline, compassion, and commitment to righteousness.

He urged all faithful to use the solemn season to pray for peace, unity, and progress in Nigeria, particularly for the well-being of workers and citizens across Oyo State.

The labour leader further prayed that God, in His infinite mercy, would meet everyone at the point of their needs, grant ease in fasting, accept their supplications, and bless homes with peace, good health, and prosperity.

He reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare of local government workers and encouraged members to embody patience, integrity, and selfless service throughout the sacred period.

Ramadan, one of the five pillars of Islam, is observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting from dawn to sunset, while Lent is a 40-day period of prayer, fasting, and repentance observed by Christians in preparation for Easter.
