A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has fixed March 28 and 29, 2026, for its national convention, which will be held in Abuja to elect a new National Working Committee and other statutory organs of the party.

The decision was disclosed in a communiqué issued at the end of the 105th meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC), held on Monday in Abuja.
The communiqué, jointly signed by the National Chairman of the PDP National Caretaker Working Committee, Abdulrahman Muhammed, and the National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, stated that the NEC approved and confirmed the dates for the convention.

According to the communiqué, the Abuja convention will be held for the purpose of electing members of the National Working Committee as well as other statutory organs of the party.

The development comes as the Wike-backed Board of Trustees and the caretaker committee urged party members to embrace unity ahead of the national convention.
