The Chairman of the Oyo State Park Management System (PMS), Abdul-Wasiu Tomiwa Omolewa, popularly known as Tommy, has ordered an immediate reduction in transport fares across the state following complaints of arbitrary fare hikes by some commercial transport operators.
The directive was issued on January 5, 2026, during the Chairman’s statewide oversight tour, where he personally visited two major motor park terminals in Oyo State. During the visits, Tommy engaged directly with park managers, transport operators and union leaders to address concerns raised by commuters over rising transport costs.
He directed all transport operators to revert to pre-hike fare structures with immediate effect, warning that any operator who fails to comply with the order would face appropriate sanctions.
According to him, the Oyo State Park Management System remains fully committed to protecting commuters from exploitation, maintaining peace and discipline in motor parks, and ensuring affordable and fair transportation for residents of the state.
“The people of Oyo State deserve reliable and affordable transport services. Any unauthorised fare increase will not be tolerated,” Tommy stated.
The intervention drew positive reactions from travellers and commuters at the terminals, who expressed joy and relief over the development. Many applauded the Chairman for his swift action, describing it as a restoration of sanity in the transport sector, while also offering prayers for his leadership.
The Oyo State Park Management System also acknowledged the continued support of Governor Seyi Makinde, noting that his administration remains committed to a people-oriented and efficient transport system in the state.
Reiterating his warning to defaulters, the PMS Chairman stressed that peace and order would continue to be sustained in motor parks, operators must strictly adhere to approved fares, and any form of exploitation of commuters would attract sanctions.
