The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has convened a crucial troubleshooting meeting with the two rival factions of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in an effort to address the party’s ongoing internal crisis.
The meeting, which is holding at INEC’s headquarters in Abuja, brings together the faction led by Tanimu Turaki and the group backed by former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, under the leadership of Abdulrahman Mohammed.
Tanimu Turaki attended the session alongside members of his National Working Committee (NWC), officials of the party secretariat, as well as former Niger State Governor, Babangida Aliyu.
On the other side, Abdulrahman Mohammed arrived with key members of his national caretaker committee, including its secretary, Senator Sam Anyanwu.
The engagement is part of INEC’s efforts to resolve the leadership tussle within the PDP, which has resulted in parallel structures and deep divisions within the opposition party.
