Osun State Governor, Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke, has formally resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing the ongoing crisis within the party’s national leadership as the reason for his decision.
In a letter addressed to the Chairman of PDP Ward 2, Sagba Abogunde, Ede, the governor announced his immediate withdrawal from the party. Adeleke stated that the escalating turmoil at the national level had compelled him to take the step.
“Due to the current crisis of the national leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), I hereby resign my membership of the People’s Democratic Party with immediate effect,” the governor wrote.
Adeleke expressed gratitude to the PDP for the platform it provided him over the years, acknowledging the roles the party played in his political career. He noted that his emergence as Senator representing Osun West as well as his election as Governor of Osun State were made possible under the PDP.
“I thank the People’s Democratic Party for the opportunities given to me for my elections as a Senator (representing Osun West) and as Governor of Osun State under the People’s Democratic Party,” he added.
The resignation comes at a time when the PDP is battling internal suspensions, counter-suspensions, and legal disputes that have disrupted key party activities nationwide.
Adeleke signed off the letter as Governor of Osun State, marking his official exit from the party he has been associated with throughout his political journey.
