Intending pilgrims across the country have been handed major financial relief following the approval of a significant reduction in the 2026 Hajj fare by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).

The downward review, which follows the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, offers substantial cuts across all operational zones, easing the financial burden on Muslims preparing for the holy pilgrimage.

According to the figures released by NAHCON, the highest reduction was recorded in the Southern Zone, where the fare has been slashed by ₦792,943.83. Pilgrims in the zone will now pay ₦7,991,141.76 for the 2026 exercise instead of the ₦8,784,085.59 charged in 2025.

Those departing from the Northern Zone will now pay ₦7,696,769.76 following a reduction of ₦760,915.83 from last year’s ₦8,457,685.59.

The Borno/Adamawa Zone received a ₦748,104.63 cut, bringing the new fare down to ₦7,579,020.96 from the previous ₦8,327,125.59, making it the lowest Hajj fare nationwide.

NAHCON said the review was carried out to make the pilgrimage more affordable and to encourage wider participation, in line with the President’s directive.

The commission also set December 5, 2025, as the deadline for all intending pilgrims to complete payment to facilitate proper processing and preparations for the journey.

Prospective pilgrims were urged to adhere strictly to the payment timeline, while further information is available on NAHCON’s official website: www.nahcon.gov.ng.
