The Forum of State Chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reaffirmed its confidence in the National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Damagun, and the National Working Committee (NWC), declaring full support ahead of the party’s National Elective Convention scheduled for November 15–16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

This was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of a crucial meeting held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, with twenty-nine (29) State Chairmen in attendance.

According to the communiqué, the Forum passed several resolutions after extensive deliberations on critical issues affecting the party.

Firstly, the Forum unanimously expressed total support, confidence, and loyalty to Ambassador Umar Damagun and the NWC.

The Forum also commended the judiciary, particularly the judgment delivered by Hon. Justice A. L. Akintola of the Oyo State High Court, which cleared the way for the conduct of the National Elective Convention. The Chairmen described the ruling as courageous and well-considered.

In preparation for the Convention, the Forum urged all delegates duly recognized under the PDP Constitution (2017 as amended) to begin necessary preparations to elect credible, competent, and loyal men and women into the National Working Committee.

The communiqué further applauded the collaborative leadership among the National Working Committee under Ambassador Damagun, the PDP Governors’ Forum led by Senator Bala Mohammed, and the Board of Trustees chaired by Senator Adolphus Wabara, noting that their synergy has helped to stabilize and reposition the party.

Reinforcing the need for discipline, the Forum called on all state chapters to invoke relevant provisions of the party’s constitution to take disciplinary action against members whose actions undermine unity, cohesion, and the collective interest of the PDP.

The Forum also reaffirmed its commitment to the unity, progress, and electoral success of the party, pledging continuous cooperation with the national leadership to strengthen internal democracy and rebuild public trust.

In a strong position regarding the party’s leadership, the Forum distanced itself from the purported leadership of Abdurahman, stressing that the PDP has only one National Chairman—Ambassador Umar Damagun. It also noted that the presence of Chairmen from the North Central in the meeting reaffirmed this solidarity and support for all organs of the party.

The communiqué was signed by Tony Aziegbemi, Edo State Chairman and Chairman of the Forum of PDP State Chairmen, and Edward Mashal, Kaduna State Chairman and Secretary of the Forum.
