A sombre mood has enveloped the Jalingo community in Taraba State following the mysterious death of Comfort Jimtop Oliver, a 100-level Mass Communication student of Taraba State University.
Comfort, an indigene of Takum Local Government Area and a member of the Kuteb ethnic group, was discovered lifeless on Friday, September 12, 2025, in her boyfriend’s apartment at the Bakasi area of Jalingo, close to Dr. Rapha’s quarters and directly opposite the Vice-Chancellor’s gate.
The circumstances leading to her death remain uncertain, but police authorities have confirmed that investigations have begun to unravel the cause.
A senior police officer involved in the case revealed that empty bottles of hard drinks were found near the bed where the deceased was discovered. “Upon reporting the matter to our station at the university gate, we found that no one was present in the room, which has over 15 tenants. The owner of the room, believed to be the deceased’s boyfriend, was also missing and is currently at large,” the officer said under anonymity.
