The Olubadan-designate, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, on Monday returned to Ibadan to commence the traditional and spiritual activities marking his journey to the throne as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.
Oba Ladoja, a former governor of Oyo State, arrived at about 1:20 p.m. and went straight to his family house in Isale-Osi, Ibadan South West Local Government Area. There, he was joyfully welcomed by relatives, associates, and a large crowd of well-wishers. Special prayers were offered for him in both Islamic and Christian traditions, as part of the day’s events.
After the prayers, the monarch-in-waiting is expected to proceed to his Bodija residence later in the evening, before embarking on the series of traditional rites required ahead of his formal installation.
It will be recalled that the Olubadan-in-Council, at its meeting on Monday, August 4, 2025, at the new Olubadan Palace in Oke-Aremo, unanimously nominated Oba Ladoja as the next Olubadan. Though he was not physically present, all beaded-crown high chiefs endorsed his candidacy.
The motion for his selection was moved by the Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, after which his name was resolved to be forwarded to Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, for official ratification to clear the path for his coronation.
