A National Embarrassment: Wasiu Ayinde’s Airport Outburst is a Disgrace to Nigeria, Must Not Be Tolerated By Amb. (Dr.) Adedipe Dauda Ewenla

It is with deep concern and a sense of national responsibility that I address the recent shameful conduct of the popular Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, also known as K1 De Ultimate, at a Nigerian airport.

Reports and verified video footage have shown that Wasiu Ayinde attempted to board an international flight with a bottle of alcohol, in clear violation of international aviation regulations, which strictly prohibit carrying liquid substances exceeding 100ml into the aircraft cabin. When the cabin crew rightly attempted to prevent this violation, Wasiu Ayinde responded not with maturity or understanding but with violence and sheer arrogance, pouring the liquor on the face of a cabin crew member.

This act alone is not only uncivilized but also constitutes assault under both Nigerian law and international aviation conduct. It is disturbing that a man of his status would resort to such thuggish behavior, especially in a high-security area like an airport terminal. Even more outrageous was his subsequent action standing in front of the aircraft in an attempt to stop the flight from departing. Such behavior is reckless, dangerous, and highly disrespectful to every law-abiding Nigerian citizen.

Let it be made clear: this is not about celebrity, tribe, or musical legacy. It is about law, order, and national dignity.

No individual, no matter how famous or connected, should be above the law. It is even more shameful that Wasiu Ayinde is often seen associating closely with the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. If indeed there is any such connection, he has done a great disservice to the President’s image by failing to conduct himself in a manner befitting a supposed “elder statesman” of the Yoruba cultural scene.

This disgraceful incident has brought global shame upon Nigeria. As a man with influence and reach, he should have been an ambassador of the best of our values. Instead, he chose to act like a street tout, dragging the nation’s image through the mud.

I commend the Federal Minister of Aviation for taking swift action by banning Wasiu Ayinde from boarding any Nigerian airline, and I strongly urge the relevant security agencies to take legal action against him for assault, obstruction of flight operations, and violation of aviation safety protocols.

𝐍𝐂𝐀𝐀 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐅𝐮𝐣𝐢 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫 𝐊𝟏 𝐝𝐞 𝐔𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐢𝐱 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐬 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority has said popular Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde, also known as K1 de Ultimate, will be blacklisted from flying within Nigeria for six months over alleged misconduct at the domestic terminal of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

The question Nigerians are asking is this: is it because Wasiu Ayinde is a friend to Mr President, or because he is a leader and member of the APC, that he was banned for just six months? Because the offence he committed assault under Section 252 of the Criminal Code Act and obstruction of flight operations clearly warrant more than a six-month air travel ban. Under Nigerian law, assault can carry up to two years of imprisonment, and interfering with aviation operations is a serious safety and national security violation.

Nigeria cannot continue to celebrate lawlessness. We must choose integrity over influence, discipline over noise, and justice over name-dropping.

Let Wasiu Ayinde be an example to all others who believe fame can shield them from the consequences of their actions. Enough is enough.
