The ancient city of Ibadan came alive on Monday as Comrade Salaudeen Ibrahim Olaiya, a top contender for the presidency of the Oyo State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), brought his statewide campaign to a resounding close at the iconic Mapo Hall.

The event, which marked the grand finale of the NULGE Integrity Group (NIG) campaign, drew a massive crowd of union members, supporters, and key stakeholders from all zones across the state. Hosted within the Ibadan South East Local Government Area, the occasion also served as the Ibadan Zone’s official rally in support of the NIG.

Among the notable union leaders and stakeholders in attendance were Comrades Opabunmi, Abass Bogunmbe, Khalid Ajibade, Moshood Adedokun, A.K. Bello, Steven Aderounmu, Animasahun, Sulaiman Kadir, and Mogaji Arapaja. Their presence underscored the broad-based support and solidarity that Olaiya’s candidacy has continued to inspire.

Addressing the energized crowd, Comrade Salaudeen —widely respected for his humility, accessibility, and strong grassroots appeal—commended the Ibadan Zone for its steadfast loyalty and unwavering dedication throughout the campaign.

He expressed deep gratitude to all stakeholders, delegates, and supporters from across the state who had consistently stood by his team. In particular, he lauded the Ibadan Zone for playing a pivotal role in mobilizing support for the NIG and upholding the values of unity and integrity within the union.

“As we conclude this campaign today, I speak with a heart full of gratitude and a deep sense of responsibility,” he declared. “I urge all accredited delegates to place their confidence in me and my team. I assure you, the trust you have placed in us will not be betrayed.”

Olaiya also reaffirmed his commitment to transparent, inclusive, and progressive leadership that prioritizes the welfare of all members.

The much-anticipated NULGE state election is scheduled to hold on Thursday, 7th August, at the University of Ibadan International Conference Centre. With the campaign now concluded, all attention shifts to the delegates, whose votes will determine the future leadership of the union in Oyo State.
