The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has approved the timetable for its elective national convention, scheduled to hold in Ibadan, Oyo State, from November 15 to 16, 2025.
This was part of the key decisions reached at the 101st NEC meeting held on Wednesday, July 24, 2025, at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
In a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, the NEC said it was satisfied with the resolution of internal disagreements within the party, noting that the development demonstrated the PDP’s commitment to dialogue and mutual understanding.
The NEC approved the schedule of activities for the forthcoming convention and directed the National Chairman and National Secretary to formally notify the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of the date and venue.
It also ratified the membership of the National Convention Planning Committee and the Zoning Committee ahead of the exercise.
The party further resolved to take disciplinary measures against members who had defected to other political parties. To this end, the NEC mandated the National Working Committee to initiate legal action aimed at reclaiming seats held by defectors, particularly those in elective offices.
The NEC also expressed concern over reports that some party members were actively participating in the affairs of other political parties. It called on all members to demonstrate loyalty to the PDP and avoid actions that could undermine its unity.
Reaffirming its commitment to credible internal democracy, the PDP said it was working towards a successful and transparent national convention in November.
The party also announced that the next NEC meeting would hold on August 25, 2025.
