The Oyo State Government has postponed the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) papers earlier scheduled for today, Tuesday, July 15, 2025, in observance of the national mourning declared for former President Muhammadu Buhari.

The decision follows the public holiday declared by the Federal Government to honour the late president, who passed away in London on Sunday.
In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Hon. Olusegun Olayiwola, and conveyed through the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Bamidele Oyinloye, the affected papers — Mathematics and Pre-Vocational Studies — have been put on hold until further notice.
The Commissioner urged students, parents, and education stakeholders to take note of the change and assured that all other scheduled examination papers from Wednesday, July 16, 2025, would go on as planned.
He expressed appreciation for the understanding and cooperation of the public as the state joins the rest of the country in paying tribute to the former president.
