What was meant to be a solemn Friday prayer turned into a scene of chaos at the Auchi Central Mosque in Edo State, as a swarm of bees unexpectedly disrupted the last Friday Jumaat service.

The incident occurred just moments before the commencement of prayers, catching hundreds of worshippers off guard. Eyewitnesses described the moment as surreal, as the bees descended swiftly on the mosque premises, causing confusion and panic among the faithful.

In a frantic attempt to escape the aggressive insects, worshippers fled in all directions, abandoning their prayer mats and sandals. Some managed to shield themselves while others sustained minor stings, though no serious injuries were reported.
Attempts to disperse the bees and restore calm proved unsuccessful, ultimately leading to the suspension of the prayer session. Religious leaders at the mosque were forced to cancel the service for the safety of the congregation.
The cause of the sudden bee invasion remains unclear, but local authorities and mosque officials are expected to investigate the unusual occurrence and consider preventive measures going forward.
