Tributes have poured in from across Oyo State and beyond as friends, colleagues, and admirers celebrate the birthday of Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, Executive Chairman of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), in recognition of his unwavering dedication to education, public service, and community development.
Among the many voices of praise is Amofin Beulah Adeoye, who described Dr. Adeniran as “a towering force of intellect, integrity, and service.” In a heartfelt message, Adeoye reflected on years of shared political and personal camaraderie, hailing Dr. Adeniran not just as a leader, but as a friend and moral compass.

With a Ph.D. in Communication Arts and Community Development from the University of Ibadan, and a Law degree (LL.B. Hons.), Dr. Adeniran’s academic and professional background underscores his unique blend of legal and developmental insight. He has lectured at both Kaduna Polytechnic and Lead City University, earning respect from students and colleagues alike for his clarity, discipline, and principle-based leadership.
Dr. Adeniran’s public service journey has seen him occupy several key roles, including Chairman of Ibadan South West Local Government and Commissioner for Industry, Applied Science and Technology. As Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, he spearheaded bold reforms, clearing salary backlogs, improving school infrastructure, and restoring morale in the education sector. Under his leadership, Oyo State’s basic education ranking rose significantly from 27th to 11th place nationwide.
Now serving as SUBEB Chairman, Dr. Adeniran has overseen the recruitment of over 7,000 teachers and 1,000 caregivers. His tenure has been marked by the renovation of classrooms across urban and rural communities, inclusive policy development, and tireless commitment—even working through health challenges to supervise teacher recruitment processes.
Beyond official duties, Dr. Adeniran is widely admired for his humility and accessibility. Adeoye shared fond memories of their days in Lagos, where Dr. Adeniran’s home became a hub for political dialogue and mentorship. These moments, filled with food and robust conversation, exemplified the Chairman’s ability to inspire and connect.
Dr. Adeniran’s humility is also reflected in his return to Muslim Grammar School, Odinjo—his alma mater—to teach, and in his respectful treatment of all, regardless of status. His spiritual leadership within the Muslim community is evident through his revitalization of the SUBEB mosque, organization of Ramadan lectures, and commitment to interfaith harmony.
His regional influence continues to grow as he serves as Chairman of the South-West SUBEB Chairmen Forum, representing six states. Despite this elevated platform, he remains grounded, committed to collaboration and the betterment of the education sector.
As Dr. Adeniran marks another year, his life and work stand as a testament to what purposeful public service can achieve. He is celebrated not only for his accomplishments but for the values he represents—integrity, loyalty, and humility.
“May history remember you not merely as a man of power, but as a man of peace. Not just as a public figure, but as a moral compass. Not just as a leader, but as a light,” Adeoye concluded.
Dr. Nureni Adeniran’s birthday is not only a personal milestone—it is a moment for Oyo State and Nigeria to reflect on and celebrate a legacy of transformative leadership.
