Saki community in Oyo State is set to witness a significant improvement in electricity supply, following the launch of a 10MW solar hybrid power project by De-Janees Concept Limited in partnership with Hexing Electrical Company Limited.
The landmark project was unveiled during an official signing ceremony held in Lagos on Friday. Under the agreement, De-Janees Concept will oversee the construction and installation of a solar power plant that aims to deliver up to 22 hours of electricity daily to residents of Saki.
The initiative will be executed in phases, with the first phase involving the deployment of a 2MW solar power system to power over 4,000 homes through the Sango feeder in the town.
Chief Executive Officer of De-Janees Concept Limited, Engr. Isaiah Fatokun said the project represents a turning point for the community, which has struggled with unreliable power supply for years. According to him, the solar hybrid system will stimulate local businesses, improve education, create jobs, and enhance the overall quality of life in Saki.
“This innovative project will drive economic growth, stimulate local businesses, revolutionize education, and enhance the quality of life for residents,” Fatokun stated. “Hexing Electrical has demonstrated remarkable commitment and dedication to this project. Together, we are creating jobs, supporting long-term employment, and promoting a sustainable environment.”
Fatokun emphasized that the project reflects the power of strategic partnerships, noting that his firm has already signed several agreements with the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC), which has granted the franchise to generate and distribute power directly to the community.
“We are excited about this development. The community and we, the executors of the project, have long dreamed of a solution to the years of darkness that have plagued Saki. Upon completion by December this year, the community will enjoy 22 hours of electricity supply and be placed on Band A,” he added.
Vice President of Hexing Electrical Company Limited, Mr Simon Ye, echoed Fatokun’s optimism, stating that with the strong collaboration between partners, the solar project would be delivered by the end of December 2025.
When completed, the 10MW solar hybrid project is expected to serve as a model for sustainable, renewable energy deployment in underserved regions, helping to reduce dependence on the national grid and energize communities through clean power.
