The Crescent Club of Saki has once again demonstrated its commitment to charity and community support by holding its annual Ramadan Lecture and Benevolence Programme, where about 100 aged and less privileged individuals receive gifts and support.
The event, held at the Saki West Local Government Secretariat Mosque, featured a thought-provoking lecture titled “Ramadan: A Month of Mercy and Generosity,” delivered by renowned Islamic scholar and preacher, Barrister Nasirudeen Muslim.
In his lecture, Barrister Muslim emphasized the importance of generosity in Islam, urging individuals not only to give but also to develop the intention of giving, even when in need. He commended the Crescent Club of Saki under the leadership of Alhaji Khalid Adebayo Ajibade for its continued efforts over the years in assisting the less privileged. He further encouraged the club to expand its charitable initiatives by embarking on sustainable physical projects that would provide long-term benefits to the community.
In his welcome address, the chairman of the Crescent Club of Saki, Alhaji Khalid Adebayo Ajibade, expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for making this year’s Ramadan benevolence programmes possible. He extended appreciation to the club’s patrons, especially Alhaji Mudasiru Oredegbe and ESV Abdul Hakim Audu, who is the Permanent Secretary at the Oyo State Head of Service Office, for their unwavering financial support. He also acknowledged the contributions of other donors whose generosity ensured the success of the event, including Alhaji Abdulrasheed Adeniran Gasma, Alhaji Abdulrasaq Subair Obadimeji, Alhaji Jimoh Fatai, Alhaji Gazali Adewale, and Alhaji Tajudeen TJ.
Ajibade noted that about 100 beneficiaries received essential items, including rice, beans, Semovita, vegetable oil, and cash donations. He further announced that the club would extend the benevolence to radio programmes, where lucky participants would also receive similar gifts.
He emphasized the significance of charity beyond Ramadan, urging the public to embrace a culture of giving throughout the year. He reminded attendees that “the giver never lacks” and encouraged sustained acts of kindness towards the needy. The event concluded with prayers for all donors and well-wishers, as well as a heartfelt appeal for continued support to strengthen the club’s humanitarian efforts.
For years, the Crescent Club of Saki has been a pillar of support for the elderly and less privileged, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan. The club remains steadfast in its mission to uplift lives through charitable activities, community development, and fostering the spirit of generosity among its members and the public.
