In preparation for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has introduced significant changes to improve the experience for candidates. During a meeting with media executives in Lagos, JAMB Registrar Prof. Ishaq Oloyede unveiled the registration and examination schedule, along with measures to enhance efficiency and fairness in the process.

Key Dates and Registration Details
The registration for the 2025 UTME will commence on January 31, 2025, and close on March 5, 2025, providing candidates ample time to complete the process. The main UTME examinations will take place from March 8, 2025, while a mock examination for interested candidates is scheduled for February 23, 2025.

JAMB has reiterated that all candidates must provide their National Identification Number (NIN) to generate a profile code, a mandatory prerequisite for registration. Candidates can send their NIN via text to 55019 or 66019 to obtain the code.

Fees and Mock Examination Options
The cost of registering for the UTME varies based on participation in the mock examination. Candidates opting for both the UTME and mock exam will pay ₦8,200, while those registering solely for the UTME will pay ₦7,200. Direct Entry (DE) candidates will pay ₦5,700.

For candidates under 16 who wish to familiarize themselves with the Computer-Based Testing (CBT) format without participating in the UTME, JAMB has introduced a separate trial-testing mock examination.

Expanded CBT Centres for 2025
To accommodate a growing number of candidates and minimize technical disruptions, JAMB has increased the number of approved CBT centres from 747 in 2024 to 870 in 2025. This expansion underscores the Board’s commitment to ensuring a seamless examination process.

Focus on Preparation and Transparency
The mock examination remains an essential tool for helping candidates adapt to the CBT format and refine their preparation strategies. Prof. Oloyede emphasized the importance of early preparation, urging candidates to create their profiles, gather necessary documents, and stay informed through JAMB’s official platforms.

“The Board believes that candidates participating in the 2025 UTME will experience an examination like never before,” Prof. Oloyede stated, highlighting steps taken to address challenges from previous years.

Strict Adherence to Deadlines
Candidates are advised to complete their registration within the stipulated timeframe, as late submissions will not be entertained. JAMB’s announcement reaffirms its commitment to transparency, efficiency, and fairness in the UTME process, aiming to provide candidates with the best possible experience in 2025.

This year’s developments signify JAMB’s dedication to enhancing the examination process and meeting the needs of its diverse candidates.
