The Executive Chairman of the Oyo State Pensions Board, Hon. Chief Tunji Rafiu Adekunle, has paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Chief Dr. Adeniyi Michael Koleoso, OFR, the Babalaje worldwide, following his passing. In his tribute, Adekunle emphasized the immense loss of a true statesman and leader, whose contributions to both Oyo State and Nigeria were immeasurable.

As a former Secretary to the Oyo State Government and National Chairman of the defunct Alliance for Democracy, Chief Koleoso played pivotal roles in national development. His dedication to the people of Oyo State left a lasting impact across various sectors.

    A Legacy of Service

Chief Koleoso’s numerous accomplishments are a testament to his commitment to the growth and development of his community and state. Some of his notable achievements include:

    • Bringing Saki into the National Spotlight: Chief Koleoso ensured that Saki gained national recognition, putting the town on the map and fostering its inclusion in important discussions.
    • Agricultural Development: He played a significant role in facilitating Oyo State’s World Bank Agricultural Projects in Saki, contributing to the local economy’s growth.
    • Advancing Education: Chief Koleoso spearheaded the establishment of key institutions, including the Polytechnic and the School of Nursing and Midwifery, and expanded the number of secondary schools in Saki from just 2 to 15.
    • Empowerment Through Appointments: Many individuals saw their lives transformed through the opportunities he provided by appointing them to various government positions.
    • Infrastructure Development: His commitment to infrastructure improvements resulted in the tarring of numerous township roads and the establishment of housing estates in Saki.

Governor Seyi Makinde, in his tribute, described Chief Koleoso’s passing as the “end of an era,” recognizing his selfless leadership and numerous contributions to the advancement of Oyo State and Nigeria. Other notable figures, including Honourable Monsuru Akintunde Adeyemo and Princess Folashade Nurudeen Abeo, also paid their respects, acknowledging the late leader’s remarkable legacy.
