Adeleke Restructures Work Schedule, Extends Palliatives for Civil Servants

Osun State governor, Ademola Adeleke, has introduced significant measures aimed at alleviating the financial strain on civil servants caused by rising transportation costs. As part of his ongoing commitment to worker welfare, the governor has approved a revised work schedule for different categories of civil servants and extended the payment of palliatives for another two months.

In a circular issued by the Office of the Head of Service, the governor’s decision reflects his response to the current economic challenges faced by public workers in the state.

The circular outlined the new work schedule as follows:

  • Public servants on Grade Levels 01 to 10 are now required to work three days a week.
  • Public servants on Grade Levels 12 to 17 will work four days a week.

This revised arrangement excludes those in essential services, including medical personnel, security officers, political office holders, and accounting officers, who are expected to maintain their regular work schedules.

The directive further specifies that accounting officers in the Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) will be responsible for coordinating the specific workdays for their staff within the stated categories.

Governor Adeleke has also approved the continuation of palliative payments to public servants for the next two months, pending the implementation of the new minimum wage in the state. This move is intended to provide further financial relief as the state navigates the current economic climate.

All accounting officers, including those in local governments, have been instructed to ensure full compliance with the new directives.
