The Chairman of Saki West Local Government, Hon. Gbenga Olaleye Akinola, has expressed his gratitude to the Oyo State Government and the state Commissioner of Police, Sonubi Ayodele for their prompt response to the recent attack in Gbepakan Village. Hon. Akinola praised the leadership of Acting Governor Barrister Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal for personally visiting the affected community to assess the situation and offer reassurance to the residents.

Following the tragic incident on Tuesday night, where unknown assailants attacked both Fulani settlers and Yoruba residents, Hon. Akinola acknowledged the Oyo State Government’s swift action as a crucial step in restoring peace and stability to the area. He emphasized that the government’s presence demonstrated a strong commitment to the security and welfare of all citizens, regardless of their ethnic background.

“The visit by the Acting Governor shows the seriousness with which the Oyo State Government is addressing this unfortunate incident. It is a clear message to the criminals that the government will not tolerate any form of violence or criminality,” Akinola stated.

He also commended the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Sonubi Ayodele for his early visit to Gbepakan Village, which helped to calm tensions and reassure the community that security forces are actively working to prevent further violence. Akinola highlighted that the Commissioner’s presence underscored the dedication of law enforcement to maintaining peace and order in the region.

Hon. Akinola pledged his full support to the security agencies operating in the area, vowing to collaborate closely with them to track down the perpetrators and prevent future incidents. He urged the local communities to cooperate with the authorities and remain vigilant against any suspicious activities.

“We will work hand-in-hand with the security agencies to ensure that those responsible for this heinous act are brought to justice. The safety and security of our people are paramount, and we will do everything within our power to support the efforts of the police and other security forces,” Akinola assured.

He also called on residents to remain calm and continue their daily activities without fear, as the government and security forces are fully committed to safeguarding their lives and properties.

Hon. Akinola concluded by expressing confidence that the joint efforts of the Oyo State Government, local authorities, and security agencies will restore peace and prevent any recurrence of such attacks in Saki West Local Government.
