An Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan on Tuesday ordered the remand of Adekunle Fatai, 40, and Sabitu Kolapo, 33, in a correctional facility for allegedly mutilating a deceased woman’s body and possessing an illegal firearm.

Fatai and Kolapo, whose addresses remain undisclosed, face charges of conspiracy, tampering with a corpse, and unlawful firearm possession.

Magistrate Mrs. M. Olagbenro declined to take the defendants’ plea due to lack of jurisdiction. She instructed the police to forward the case file to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice and adjourned the case until October 29 for further mention.

According to Prosecutor Inspector Elisha Tellang, the offenses were committed on July 13 at approximately 11:35 p.m. in Gbedun village, Ibadan. The defendants allegedly conspired to exhume the body of the late Mrs. Oyindamola Olosunde and sever her left breast. Additionally, they were found in possession of a firearm without lawful authority.

These acts violate Sections 6 (b) and 3 of the Robbery and Firearms Laws of Nigeria, 2004, as well as Sections 517 and 242(1)(b) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
