Oyo: Akinola Ushers in New Era with Inauguration of Supervisory Councilors, Special Assistants

In a significant step forward for Saki West Local Government, Honorable Gbenga Olaleye Akinola, the Executive Chairman, presided over the swearing-in ceremony of eleven Supervisory Councilors and eleven Special Assistants. The event, held in the presence of distinguished guests, marked the beginning of a new chapter in the governance of the local government.

Addressing the audience, Hon. Akinola emphasized the importance of the occasion and the responsibilities that come with the newly appointed positions. “Today, we gather to swear in our newly appointed Supervisory Councillors and Special Assistants. This event marks the beginning of a new chapter in the governance of Saki West Local Government, one filled with hope, promise, and a collective commitment to progress,” he stated.

He underscored the dedication and proven capabilities of the appointees, stressing their roles in driving initiatives that will foster development and prosperity in the region. “Your commitment to these roles will be crucial in addressing the needs of our people and in driving the initiatives that will foster development and prosperity in Saki West,” Hon. Akinola noted.

Hon. Akinola urged the new appointees to approach their duties with diligence, empathy, and a relentless pursuit of the common good. He highlighted the importance of engaging with constituents and working collaboratively to find solutions to shared challenges.

As a former secretary and Vice Chairman of the Council, Hon. Akinola expressed confidence in the abilities of the new appointees and the collective efforts required to ensure good governance and policies for the people of the local government. “I am confident that with your support and the support of our community, we will achieve our goals and set new standards of excellence in local governance,” he concluded.

The portfolios of the newly appointed Supervisory Councilors were announced as follows:

Opeloyeru Abeeb – Special Duties

Ige Abiola Mayowa – Finance and Budget

Lawal Medinat – Women’s Affairs

Afolabi Abiola – Youth and Sport

Gbadamosi Abass – Agricultural Development

Ganiyu Ayuba Adesina – Transport Management

Kabiru Sawaba Liadi – Works, Lands, and Housing

Ashiru Lukman Adeola – Information

Ogunleye Ayobade Adufe – Education and Social Services

Alh Aloyinlapa A. – Rural Development

Kabiru Nurudeen – Health and Environment


The ceremony was attended by notable figures, including Hon. Abdulrahman Oyedokun Tiamiyu, Vice Chairman and political head of Wewe LCDA, Mrs. Funmi Akinola, Chairperson, Hon. Soliu Salaudeen, Leader of the House, Alhaji Wasiu Ayesoro, PDP Chairman of Saki West LG, Alhaji Jimoh Adeshina, Organizing Secretary of PDP Oyo State, and various other political stakeholders, directors, and deputy directors.
