The Action Alliance (AA) governorship candidate in Oyo State for the 2027 election, Comrade Sikiru Bayo Titilola-Sodo, has commended the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian Army, the Department of State Services (DSS) and other security agencies for the successful rescue of 20 prospective National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members abducted in Imo State.

The prospective corps members were reportedly abducted on October 1, 2026, while travelling to their respective NYSC orientation camps in the South-East.
They were later rescued at Amakohia Ubi Village following sustained search-and-rescue operations by security agencies.
Following their rescue, the victims were taken for medical assessment and provided with necessary care.
In a statement, Titilola-Sodo also expressed appreciation to the Federal Government and the Imo State Government, led by Governor Hope Uzodimma, for their roles in responding to the incident and securing the release of the abducted youths.
“I sincerely commend the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian Army, the DSS and all other security agencies involved in the operation. Their co-ordinated efforts demonstrate the importance of inter-agency co-operation in protecting lives,” he said.
The AA candidate expressed solidarity with the families of the rescued prospective corps members, acknowledging the anxiety, fear and uncertainty they endured throughout the period of the abduction.
He also commended the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, for his concern and engagement with representatives of the affected families during the crisis.

Titilola-Sodo congratulated the rescued prospective corps members on their safe return and urged them to prioritise their health and general well-being as they recover from the traumatic experience.
While welcoming their safe rescue, the AA governorship candidate called on security agencies to intensify efforts to identify, arrest and prosecute those responsible for the abduction.
“The safe rescue of these young Nigerians is welcome news, but it should also remind us that more must be done to protect citizens travelling across the country. Security must remain a collective responsibility, supported by intelligence, inter-agency co-operation and timely response,” he said.
Titilola-Sodo further urged Nigerians to support security agencies by providing credible information that could assist in preventing and combating criminal activities.
He also advised members of the public to avoid spreading unverified reports capable of causing unnecessary panic, particularly during security emergencies.
The AA governorship candidate concluded by expressing gratitude to the security personnel and government authorities involved in the rescue operation, as well as the Olubadan of Ibadanland.
He particularly appreciated the families and friends of the abducted prospective corps members for their resilience, support and prayers throughout the ordeal.
