The Executive Chairman of Saki West Local Government, Hon. Gbenga Olaleye Akinola, has charged six indigenes of Saki sponsored by the local government to pursue various degree programmes at Abiola Ajimobi Technical University, Ibadan, to remain focused on their studies, excel academically and become good ambassadors of the local government.
Akinola took charge when he met with beneficiaries of the local government’s educational sponsorship programme for the 2026/2027 academic session.

The six beneficiaries, who are indigenes of Saki, are currently pursuing various degree programmes at Abiola Ajimobi Technical University, Ibadan, under the sponsorship of Saki West Local Government.
The council chairman urged the students to take their studies seriously and demonstrate discipline, dedication and commitment to their academic pursuits, stressing that the opportunity provided through the sponsorship should be maximised for their personal development and the advancement of their communities.
He further charged them to conduct themselves responsibly within and outside the university environment, urging them to uphold values that would make their families and Saki West Local Government proud.
Akinola also urged the beneficiaries to reciprocate the kind gesture extended to them through the sponsorship programme by striving for academic excellence and making good use of the opportunity offered to them.
He equally called on the students to appreciate and reciprocate the kind gesture of the Oyo State Government under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde, particularly by taking advantage of educational opportunities and support provided to young people in the state.
The chairman noted that the sponsorship should be viewed not merely as financial assistance but as an investment in the future of the beneficiaries, urging them to remain committed to their studies and prepare themselves to contribute meaningfully to society after graduation.
Akinola expressed confidence that the students would justify the confidence reposed in them by the local government through excellent academic performance, responsible conduct and positive contributions to their communities.

At the meeting were Alhaja M.A. Oladimeji-Dauda, the Head of Local Government Administration (HLGA); Mr. Segun Ogundiya, Director of Education and Social Services; political functionaries and a host of other stakeholders.
The engagement further underscored the commitment of the Saki West Local Government administration to supporting education and creating opportunities for young indigenes of the area to pursue higher education and build a better future.
