The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a 17-year-old male, identified as Usman Dauda, over the alleged defilement of a three-year-old girl in Saki, Oyo State.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday, September 24, 2026.

According to the statement, the incident followed a distress report lodged at the Saki Divisional Police Station on September 17, 2026, at about 6:00 p.m., after the three-year-old girl reportedly went missing while she was being picked up from school earlier that afternoon.
Following the report, a localised search was conducted in the area, which subsequently led to the recovery of the child by the roadside in a distressed condition.
The police said preliminary inquiries after the child’s recovery revealed that the suspect had allegedly taken her by force into his apartment, where the alleged sexual assault occurred.
Following the revelation, detectives swiftly visited and secured the scene of the alleged crime, leading to the immediate arrest of the suspect and the recovery of critical physical evidence believed to be linked to the offence.
The police said investigations were immediately commenced, while the young survivor was promptly taken to a medical facility in Saki, where she is currently receiving comprehensive clinical treatment and psychotherapeutic care.

The command said the arrest formed part of its efforts to rid Oyo State of gender-based violence and offences targeting women and vulnerable persons.
The police reiterated their unwavering zero-tolerance policy towards child abuse and sexual violence, stressing that the privacy, dignity and identity of the survivor and her family would remain protected throughout the investigation.
The command further disclosed that, in compliance with the Child Rights Act and established ethical protection guidelines, the case had been transferred to the Gender Desk of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Iyaganku, Ibadan, for exhaustive investigation and prosecution.
The Oyo State Police Command assured residents of its continued commitment to protecting lives and property and maintaining safety across the state.
It also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspected acts of violence against children or other vulnerable persons to the nearest police facility.
The suspect remains subject to investigation, and the allegations against him have not been established in court.
