Unknown gunmen have attacked an Operation Burst security base situated within a forest reserve along the Igbeti–Igboho axis in Oorelope Local Government Area of Oyo State, setting part of the facility and a patrol van ablaze.

The attack reportedly occurred between 5:30 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. on Sunday, according to a security update from the Oorelope Local Government Command.
The command said it received a distress call that armed men had invaded the Operation Burst base and immediately mobilised its operatives, alongside personnel from other sister security agencies, to respond to the situation.
However, the attackers had reportedly fled the area before the security team arrived at the scene.
Preliminary inquiries indicated that the gunmen stormed the base in large numbers and opened fire on the security personnel with what was described as powerful weapons.
The attackers were also suspected of attempting to overrun the security post, kill the personnel stationed there and seize their weapons.
Following the attack, security operatives combed the surrounding area and made efforts to track down the perpetrators, but the assailants could not be apprehended.
Despite the intensity of the attack, the security update said no casualty was recorded.
The attackers, however, allegedly set fire to a block within the security base and a patrol van, resulting in the destruction of both.
The Oorelope Local Government Command said further details would be made available as investigations and security operations continue.
The incident has heightened security concerns around the forest reserve and the Igbeti–Igboho axis, although authorities have not disclosed the identities or motive of the attackers.
