An Oyo State governorship candidate on the African Democratic Congress (ADC) platform, Oloye Adegboyega Taofeek, has promised a comprehensive development programme for Oke-Ogun, including monthly stipends for elderly citizens, road construction and rehabilitation, improved healthcare, stable electricity, railway transportation, and better water supply if elected governor.

Adegboyega made the promises while addressing party members, traditional rulers, community leaders and residents from Saki West, Saki East and Atisbo.

The programme was attended by prominent leaders and candidates of the ADC, including Hon. Lanre Agoro, the Senatorial Candidate for Oyo North; Arch. Basiru Aremu Lawal, the House of Representatives candidate for Atisbo, Saki East and Saki West Federal Constituency; Hon. Shuarau Abdulhakeem, House of Assembly Candidate for Saki West State Constituency; Hon. Adeniran Moses Adewale House of Assembly Candidate for Atisbo/Saki East and Hon. Afees Jimoh, the State Party Chairman.

Others in attendance were Adebayo Olusola Kesh, the Campaign Director-General of Adegboyega; the State Women Leader; Alhaji Khalid Ajibade, the Oyo North Vice Chairman of the party; party stalwarts and other members of the ADC.
The aspirant, who described Saki as the largest city in Oke-Ogun with about 317 polling units, noted that another constituency in the region has about 241 polling units. He maintained that Saki and the entire Oke-Ogun region should never be neglected in discussions concerning the development of Oyo State.
As part of his proposed social welfare programme, Adegboyega promised to introduce a monthly stipend for elderly people across the state if elected governor.

Speaking on infrastructure, he said that within his first 100 days in office, his administration would ensure the construction or rehabilitation of at least 10 quality roads in each community.
He added that the road projects would be executed with the active participation of people from the benefiting communities, rather than relying on outsiders, in order to create employment opportunities for local residents. He further stated that the necessary equipment and instruments would also be sourced from the communities.
Adegboyega said his extensive travels across Oke-Ogun had given him firsthand knowledge of the challenges confronting the people and their developmental needs.

On transportation, the ADC governorship aspirant promised to commence the construction of a railway line linking Moniya in Ibadan to Saki, describing the proposed project as a major step towards improving transportation and stimulating economic activities across the region.
He also assured residents that he would remain close and accessible to the people after being elected and would neither abandon the region nor misuse public funds for personal interests.
Speaking on healthcare, Adegboyega expressed concern that residents of Saki and other parts of Oke-Ogun who require specialist medical attention often have to travel long distances to Ogbomoso or Ibadan.
He noted that such journeys could pose serious risks to critically ill patients and promised to establish a specialist hospital in Oke-Ogun to bring advanced medical services closer to the people.
The governorship aspirant also expressed concern over the unstable electricity supply in the region, recalling his experience at a hotel where the management had to run a generator throughout the night because of unreliable public electricity supply.
He promised that his administration would establish a solar farm capable of serving communities across Oke-Ogun, with the aim of providing a more reliable source of electricity.
Adegboyega further identified inadequate water supply as another major challenge confronting the region and promised to revive and improve the water supply system across Oke-Ogun.
He urged residents to support and campaign for his political ambition, including in neighbouring communities, stressing that unity and collective participation would be necessary to achieve meaningful development in Oke-Ogun.
The aspirant concluded by appealing to the people of the region to support his ambition and work collectively towards building a more developed and prosperous Oke-Ogun.
